About Us

We have a shared vision of a pioneering structural design practice that truly integrates architecture and engineering.  We enjoy working with a range of materials, forms and building types across diverse sectors and project scales to deliver extraordinary results.

We have an international reputation for our structural glass designs as well as our work with steel, concrete and timber.

From our offices in London, New York, San Francisco, Paris and Shanghai, our structures and facades teams collaborate closely with clients, architects and designers throughout the world.

We started in 2004 when Brian Eckersley and James O’Callaghan formed Eckersley O’Callaghan. Our team is now over 90 strong and shares a belief in making the best buildings possible.

Our Team

Our founding directors Brian Eckersley and James O’Callaghan have over 40 years’ structural engineering experience between them.

We now have a team of over 80 engineers and and technicians with a wide and complementary range of skills, working from offices in London, New York, San Francisco, Paris and Shanghai.

Our collective experience and geographical spread means we can carry out the most complex and demanding of projects across a range of scales, budgets and locations.

Eckersley O’Callaghan and Partners LLC is led by Phil Khalil PE.

Eckersley O’Callaghan SARL is led by Philip Wilson.

Clients

Our clients fuel innovation providing consistently amazing opportunities for us to collaborate on.

Collaborators

Our collaborators are fundamental in the success of the solutions we provide.

Awards

On occasion we are fortunate enough that the projects we have collaborated on or the services we have provided are recognised by industry wide award schemes.

We are grateful for the recognition this brings us and the acknowledgment from our peers that the effort we put in to our work is appreciated.

Our ethos

Every time we start work on a project we believe that we can collectively bring something to it that others can’t. It’s about collaborating closely with clients, architects, consultants and contractors to make the best buildings possible.

We want to understand the ideas behind each project we work on. These lie in the client’s requirements, the architect’s intellectual and spatial concepts, environmental strategies and the contractor’s methods of construction. We bring our own structural ideas and solutions to the mix.

Innovative

We help create new ways of doing things – sometimes borrowing ideas or expertise from other industries, as we did with Apple’s Cube at 5th Avenue that used techniques from the aircraft industry. We are recognised by the Queen’s Award for Export Innovation for our work with structural glass.

Multi-disciplinary

We work across disciplines involving architecture, materials science, building physics and parametric optimisation in our projects to bring new ideas and approaches.

Creative

And we make the most of the rich and diverse group of creative, technical thinkers who make up our office, to find the best materials and ways of doing things.

Vision

Together we share a belief in the potential of what can be achieved when architecture and engineering are truly integrated. And the benefits that can bring us all.

Notre philosophie
