Structural reconfiguration of a mixed-use building into a single retail unit for luxury fashion brand Jimmy Choo.
The structural works were both multifaceted and intricate to turn this mixed used site into an entirely retail premises in the short timeframe available.
Existing basement, ground and first floor structures were replaced as part of the works. Underpinning to the party walls was carried out in order to facilitate excavation of the basement floor slab to increase floor to ceiling height.
Replacement suspended floors were of lightweight concrete on profiled metal decking supported on steel beams were installed.
A marble clad, steel framed curved feature stair connected the basement to first floor retail spaces with straight flighted stairs above serving the back of house areas and to the rear.
There is a braced steel framed lift structure rising from the lift pit at basement level to fourth floor level. This provides support to floor and stair support beams and additional lateral stability.
Finally, a new glazed shopfront was installed. This was partially curved at ground floor with large format panes at first floor.
