A private house completed for and in collaboration with the Architect Julian Kinal.
The house is embedded into the hillside and constructed in two sections within a reinforced concrete retaining wall.
The sections are separated by a central external staircase – also concrete. The design looked at a number of prefabricated house build options including CLT but settled on a traditional timber construction. A steel frame was used to create the open plan kitchen and living room areas, a fully glazed front facade and large rooflights.
In costal Norway the house resists large wind and snow loadings.
