New 24,000 m2 office building, with limestone facade and punched windows.

BREEAM Excellent anticipated

Eckersley O'Callaghan is facade consultant on this new 15-storey commercial office building in the heart of the City of London.

The new 24,000m2 commercial office tower is built on a constrained site and reaches 62m tall with a series of roof terraces at different levels. The structure has a 15m grid for maximum flexibility of use, and the building will achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.

The facade is composed of natural limestone and has punched windows arranged in alternating bays as projecting, flush or recessed to animate the building’s appearance.

This varied alignment of the glazing modules brings technical challenges to achieve the thermal performance and also to maintain continuity of the weather line. A unitised curtain wall system has been adopted to ensure speedy construction and high quality detailing.

Building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) panels are integrated on the south and west elevations to harness solar energy.

To achieve the traditional stone appearance requested by the planners, we developed the unitised details in a way that minimises the stone joint sizes.
