London offshoot of the National Media Museum, occupying two converted exhibition halls within the Science Museum.
The project involved the conversion of two exhibition halls within the Science Museum to house the Media Space – a London branch for the National Media Museum.
Three independent environmentally controlled spaces provide display areas for photographs, video and other media. Our design included the perimeter gallery walls which incorporated a recessed base detail to hide the necessary services requirements from view.
We also designed fire rated glass partitions to divide the spaces. These incorporate doors, roller shutters and display walls.
Our work also included a raised timber platform and cantilevered steel and timber pavilion structure for the new café and seating, as well as timber-clad screens suspended from the existing concrete floor soffit to define the new spaces.
