James O'Callaghan appointed to HS2 Design Panel
James O’Callaghan, co-founder of Eckersley O’Callaghan has been appointed to the new independent HS2 Design Panel which will help the project achieve its design vision. The panel was officially launched on 10 November 2015.
It comprises of 45 experts from a diverse range of fields including urban, landscape, digital, brand and product who will work alongside internationally-renowned architects; sustainability experts and engineering specialists to help guide HS2’s development. O’Callaghan is amongst four engineers on the panel. “I am hugely honoured and excited by this project,” reflects James. “The UK has a rich history of design and engineering as the catalyst which stimulates growth. The creation of the panel firmly casts the design process again in a central role.”
The Design Panel will provide independent advice and critique of the development of HS2 to help deliver on the design vision framework which guides the work of its engineering, architectural and design teams to make sure that all aspects of the HS2 programme will add up to create one transformational experience.
