As glass continues to increase in favour as a structural material, it\u2019s important that guidance for engineers and specifiers equals the level of information available for other materials.<\/p>\n

Eckersley O\u2019Callaghan\u2019s Technical Director Graham Coult<\/a><\/strong> has authored the first of a series of articles alongside Mauro Overend for The Structural Engineer magazine which will look to update readers on changes since the release of their publication \u2018Structural use of glass in buildings\u2019 in 2014.<\/p>\n

This first article discusses recent advances in the use of glass in structural design and looks forward to the release of a draft Eurocode and includes two new limit states that will apply to glass.<\/p>\n

Graham is a UK committee member for the Glass Eurocode and is Chair of The Institution of Structural Engineers committee for the replacement of their Structural Use of Glass in Buildings.<\/p>\n
