We\u2019re pleased to share the completion of Apple TRX, Malaysia\u2019s first flagship Apple Store, designed in collaboration with Foster + Partners<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This landmark project, our first in the country, features a stunning glass dome roof above the only part of the store visible from ground level. The square-based dome, spanning 26.5m x 26.5m, is designed to appear rounded from certain angles and is clad in louvres to protect the store from Malaysia\u2019s tropical sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Below the dome, the subterranean store is arranged around a large open atrium, surrounded by a viewing gallery, creating an inviting and expansive space for visitors. The glass facade, supported by 16 mullions and columns, serves a dual purpose – providing both structural stability and lateral restraint, while also transferring wind and seismic forces to the concrete slab below. Drawing inspiration from the Steve Jobs Theatre, the facade utilises structural silicone to maintain a seamless load path, with a central glazed oculus flooding the space with soft daylight.
