In an aim to protect the endangered Mindoro Warty Pig species, a new conservation campus was created in the Philippines for long-term animal care and staff wellbeing. The campus includes staff accommodation, a dedicated disinfection and food storage facility, as well as six large pig enclosures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Continuing Eckersley O\u2019Callaghan\u2019s commitment to charitable work, our structures team<\/strong><\/a> designed the timber structure for the staff accommodation and disinfection facility as part of this pro bono initiative. Both buildings were designed in response to the climate, site conditions and construction in a remote area, whilst also ensuring durability and easy maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Built by Caukin Studio<\/strong><\/a> alongside local workers and volunteers, the buildings were constructed using local, sustainable and easily accessible materials, with a significant proportion of the timber being reclaimed and donated by the local government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
