Part new-build, part recladding of a commercial office building with slender curtain wall system and perforated metal shading screens

Stanhope

Summit House, a new ‘low carbon workplace’ development for Stanhope, is a redevelopment of a 1980s office building in Hackney on the edge of the City of London. The project involves recladding the existing frame and adding two new floors, staggered and shifted to reduce the bulk of the new development.

Eckersley O'Callaghan are providing facade consultancy services on the project. Early involvement included resolving the curtain wall system selection and detailing.

The facade features bronze spandrel panels and perforated shading screens arranged across the elevations according to their solar exposure.

After the project has been tendered on a design and build basis, we are appointed client-side as Facade Consultant to monitor the appointed contractor’s final design, testing and installation.
