Eckersley O'Callahghan has provided facade engineering services on this new research building housing laboratories, lecture theatres and offices, for the University of Oxford Theoretical and Experimental Physics Department.

The facade features a grid of vertical and horizontal shading fins clad in patinated bronze; these are supported back to a triple-glazed unitised curtain wall system.

The facade has opening windows in every room as part of a mixed-mode ventilation strategy. Large punched windows on each elevation reveal internal break-out spaces and allow a high level of natural daylight.

These features of facade contribute to the building achieving BREEAM Excellent.
