February 2021

Welcome to our first newsletter of 2021! Despite the challenges brought by last year, we're reflecting on our highlights. We used the opportunity of remote working to improve links and forge new R&D projects with our international offices, and we brought people closer together with some great interactive socials.

We've started 2021 with new hope and with a focus on the future. A focus on data driven, sustainable design. A focus on delivering the best projects for our clients and for the world around us.
Apple Marina Bay Sands
A ‘floating’ glass engineering marvel
Late last year saw the opening of Apple Marina Bay Sands with Foster + Partners, Apple’s most ambitious and iconic store to date. We were the structural and facade engineers for this complex, but deceivingly simple looking, 17m high and 30m wide
dome structure which uses a slender steel structural frame designed to be braced by the glass panels of the envelope, in a world first on this scale.

200 Park Avenue
A tech tower worthy of Silicon Valley
We are excited to be the facade designers for 200 Park, a new iconic, tech orientated 19-story tower with Gensler. The new office tower
will bring the energy and identity of Silicon Valley to the urban core of downtown San Jose.

The secret is out!
LA not Confidential - The secret is out!
We’ve opened a new office! Two burglaries and a global pandemic couldn’t stop Principal Lisa Rammig from opening our new Los Angeles office. The new office will focus on offering facade consultancy services for a wide range of project types and extend the support for our clients all along the West Coast.

Meet the LA team
Meeting some of LA’s newest additions
In the latest of our Meet… series, we meet not one, but three of the new LA team members. With backgrounds in architecture, structures and PhDs at TU Delft and Cambridge University, the sun brought them to LA. But they stay for the amazing opportunities in R&D, the close-knit team and the chance to collaborate with some of the best clients in the world.

London Road Building, South Bank University
It’s all about practical sustainability
We’re currently carrying out the complete structural and facade refurbishment for the 1970s London Road Building for South Bank University in London with WilkinsonEyre and Fulkers Bailey Russell. Find out how we’re going the extra mile to save Embodied
Carbon to give the ‘new’ building a value of just 49kgCO2e/m2 – three and a half times less than the 179kgCO2e/m2 2020 Leti education target and just under half that of the 105 kgCO2e/m2 2030 target.

Webinars 02
Back by popular demand…
Yet again, the popularity of our second series of webinars exceeded our expectations. A huge thanks to all of you who joined us. We’re now already planning our next series which will look at the engineering behind some of our most iconic projects. Watch this space! In the meantime, if you missed either the original or second series, watch back here!
