Duncan worked as a skilled steel fabricator and toolmaker prior to completing his MSc in Civil Engineering at UCL in 2007. He then moved into a career in structural design consultancy.

Duncan joined Eckersley O’Callaghan’s Structures team in 2015. He is responsible for managing a variety of technically challenging structural design projects, and leading teams to ensure their successful delivery. He has a flair for conceptual design and structural creativity, while his award-winning sketching skills give him a unique ability to communicate his ideas to architects and clients.

Duncan has recently focused on software development in sustainability for building structures and their materials. He has led our sustainability focused research and development which has resulted in several industry successes. His team of coders have developed a powerful software tool ‘EOC ECO2’ which has been shared via an open platform freely to the wider industry and is currently used by over 150 organisations worldwide. The software was shortlisted for three separate awards in 2022 and won the Construction News Workforce awards ‘Net Zero Team of the Year’. His passion for innovation in material efficiency and sustainability is exceptional.

Duncan has delivered multiple award-winning projects, including the flagship Apple store at Regent Street,The Great Hall and Library at the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn Fields, and other education, commercial, residential and heritage projects.
