Proposed mixed-use scheme comprising a hotel and five new residential towers.

Bridge Street masterplan proposal is set on a busy route into the city on previously light industrial plot of approximately one hectare. Eckersley O’Callaghan provided structural engineering services on the proposed mixed-use masterplan scheme involving a hotel and five new residential towers providing 800 units. Each tower is linked via a continuous three storey stepped podium incorporating gymnasium, crèche, swimming pool and external public realm space over a basement car park, with retail units at ground level.

The new towers underwent virtual wind analysis
modelling and wind tunnel testing to inform wind load criteria and to understand localised wind speed and comfort levels within the public realm space.

Phase 1 completed in 2019 included the conversion of an existing office block into hotel usage by repurposing and extending the existing frame with new sub-station at basement maximising the usable ground floor space of the for front of house activities.

The ground floor level was reconfigured to provide hotel foyer entrance area. A concrete frame extension to the west of the existing podium block houses an additional 4 floors of hotel space over basement plant area . The existing concrete frame columns were strengthened with carbon fibre to accommodate additional floors for the 200 key hotel.
