Museum of Wine Cultures and Civilisations, featuring a range of large installation structures.

La Cité du Vin, Bordeaux, offers visitors a “voyage into the heart of wine cultures”. The permanent exhibition provides a sensory experience through complementary media that includes a variety of major installation structures – from larger-than-life “bottles” and amphitheatres, to hanging projection domes.

Eckersley O’Callaghan investigated the structural requirements of these installation structures and advised the designers on their feasibility and potential impact.

The loadings were assessed against the design capacities of the building structure in both hanging and bearing conditions.

Structural framing concepts were developed for the stability of the larger installations.
