2024 SFE Facade Design and Engineering Awards

27 August 2024

Delighted to share that our projects have been shortlisted in several categories at this year’s SFE Facade Design and Engineering Awards!

Piraeus Tower has been shortlisted for International Refurbishment Project of the Year. Our work included designing a new cladding system and reinforcing the existing structure. The primary facade system extends from level 3 to 22 and comprises a unitised aluminium curtain wall.

Beijing Sub-Central Library, featuring the world’s largest library reading space with a 16m tall glass facade, has been shortlisted in both the International Innovation Project of the Year and International New Build Project of the Year categories. We designed the pleated glass facade using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) modelling, resulting in China’s first self-supporting glass facade. The highly transparent design reveals the library’s inner activities to passers-by, inviting them into the expansive space.

Apple Mirage has been shortlisted for International Innovation Project of the Year and International Special Structures. The installation features 448 cast cylinders filled with sustainably collected sand from 70 deserts worldwide. Each cylinder’s unique composition enhances the installation’s material presence, forming a wave-like pattern reminiscent of desert dunes.

BayBuilder, our parametric facade engineering and performance analysis tool, has been shortlisted for Digital Innovation. This tool facilitates the comprehensive evaluation and comparison of facade systems and materials, with a strong focus on environmental impact and performance.

Triptych Bankside has been shortlisted in Project of the Year UK New Build, UK Sustainability, and UK Innovation. We joined the project at Stage 3, developing and rationalising the curved facade design, reducing the geometric balcony types from around 150 to just nine while maintaining the architect’s vision.

Proud to see our innovative work recognised across such a broad range of categories!
