New residential development in Hampstead, featuring four blocks of retirement apartments with complex brickwork facades.

AIA UK Excellence in Design Awards, Commendation 2020

Eckersley O’Callaghan has provided facade engineering services for this high-end residential retirement development in Hampstead.

The project consists of four connected buildings that range in height from 4-10 storeys. The complex design of the facades features steel framing systems (SFS) backing to hand-laid brickwork in feature bonds, intricate mechanically-fixed brick slip rain-screens, precast paneling, precast sills and banding, loggia balconies, composite punch windows and stick curtain walling.

We were engaged to bring design expertise to several difficult areas during tender negotiations with subcontractors, and we were instrumental in ensuring aesthetic and technical performance requirements were met.

Due to the complex Construction Management procurement strategy, we also had significant involvement in effectively coordinating the numerous subcontractors, in design and on site, and have provided design solutions for issues that have arisen during the development of the various Contractor Design Packages.
