Boldly set on steps descending down to the Chicago riverfront, Apple’s recently-opened flagship store offers the first customer experience in a fully glazed enclosure that provides a true relationship with the public realm.
We engineered all glass elements on the project in collaboration with Foster + Partners – including balustrades, elevator enclosure and the perimeter facade.
At three metres wide, the glazing units increase in height from 4.5 metres to 10 metres on the riverfront and have carefully detailed connections that integrate within the overall structural system.
The feature curved corner panels were created through tightly controlled fabrication techniques.
