New commercial office space to house Apple’s R&D team as part of the Apple Park development, featuring floor-to-ceiling glass curtain walls.
As part of the Apple Park development, we have engineered a number of structures including the Tantau Office. Spread over four-storeys and 45,000 square metres, the offices are devoted to Apple’s research and development team.
Eckersley O’Callaghan has provided full facade engineering services, including producing the tender drawing set, performance specification and engaging post-tender in the completion of the works.
The facade features floor-to-ceiling curtain walls of glass that provide unobstructed views of the surrounding landscape, with internal blinds and a large horizontal shading projection at the floor line.
To achieve the client’s desire for maximum transparency, we carried out spatial daylighting analysis and researched different coating options to develop a specification that met the aesthetic and performance requirements. In addition to the main office building, there are ancillary buildings clad in a translucent white glass.
We have carried out extensive material research to guide the architect in product selection and a sampling and mock-up regime that has ensured the quality of the delivered material.
