PUMA’s flagship store receives a merit at the Structural Steel Design Awards 2026!

5 October 2026

The new storefront on Oxford Street underwent a refurbishment and fit-out, creating a prominent retail presence close to Bond Street Station and Selfridges.

With investigations helping to shape our design, our structures team opted to strengthen the main entrance steel framing rather than replacing it. To improve clarity into the new storefront, the existing columns were cut back and new plates were fabricated and welded to the retained steel. This saved programme time, reduced waste and embodied carbon, whilst also keeping temporary works to a minimum.

The judges praised the project, commenting that ‘Retention of the structural steel supporting four storeys of occupied offices above was made possible through intelligent analysis and painstaking in-situ remodelling of structural members and connections.’ We engineered the structure and glass for PUMA UK, working with Johnson Pinney Architects, Goodman Hichens, Malci Construction and Mett Build.

Congratulations to Nicola Sacco, Wasim Ilyas, Duncan Walters, Angel Martinez, Alexandros Cannas, Davide Papini and the wider project team on this achievement!
