Apple’s 50th Anniversary

Eckersley O’Callaghan’s collaboration with Apple spans across more than two decades.

Our involvement in engineering over 300 Apple buildings has advanced the use of structural glass in architecture, transforming its application within the industry and advancing engineering methods in pursuit of a refined transparency.

In Architectural Record’s April Issue, Founding Director James O’Callaghan is quoted, “Apple was interested in the material from an engineering perspective—where the boundaries were and what the possibilities were. So we started to research how to take a more ambitious approach with glass.”
Discussing Apple’s Soho store, the article details how we were brought onto the project to help realise the glass stair and bridge following our key role in developing similar details at the Rakow Research Library in upstate New York.
