Project update Atlassian Central

18 August 2022

Since 2016, Atlassian has been working closely with the NSW Government and Dexus to bring to life an exciting new technology precinct in Sydney (Tech Central). Atlassian in partnership with Dexus has now gained full approval to develop the current YHA site at Central (8-10 Lee Street).

This comes on the back of a thorough planning process with the NSW Government and various agencies, an international design competition to determine the amazing design for the Atlassian building, and various commercial and technical agreements to enable development on the YHA site.

Atlassian’s Australian headquarter building will be a world-leading sustainable tower that becomes Atlassian’s long-term home in Sydney. It’s an incredible hybrid timber design, which will be the tallest of its kind in the world. The building will be highly sustainable, highly flexible, and built for the future. It will be 39-storeys that are distributed across 8 different habitats, with uses of the building including office, retail and tourism (YHA).

Atlassian has a ground breaking design of timber, with a glass and steel facade and is targeting a 50% reduction in embodied carbon compared to a conventionally constructed building, 50% less energy consumption compared to a conventional building and will operate on 100% renewable energy from day one. We’re delighted to be working on this fantastic project alongside SHoP Architects and Architecture BVN for Atlassian Central.
