Eckersley O’Callaghan opens three new global offices

We are delighted to announce the opening of our offices in Manchester, Sydney and Delhi.
Our award-winning engineering practice is opening new offices in not one, not two, but three cities globally. Manchester, Sydney and Delhi will add to our already international presence with offices in London, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Paris, Hong Kong and Shanghai. To support the exciting growth of our work in each region, we have established our new engineering studios to collaborate with clients and designers, and to strengthen our current relationships in each city and beyond.
Andy King has joined as Structural Director of our new Manchester office which will further our offering to the northern regions of the UK. He is a highly skilled structural engineer and motivated business leader having previously set up and led offices in Manchester for Whitby Bird (now Ramboll) and most recently led Waterman Group’s Northern Structures team. Andy will continue to build on our experience in the area, demonstrated by the projects Manchester Library Walk Link, Arundel Street, Leeds Bridge Street, Lancaster University Spine, Abbot Hall Gallery and more.
Andy King said: “EOC are a company that I have seen grow and have admired for the quality and history of their boundary-pushing work for several years now. To me, this is a dream opportunity, that returns me to my passion for strongly design-led structural engineering. I am excited to see how we can develop the EOC brand in the north of the UK.”
In Sydney, Tom Donald has re-joined Eckersley O’Callaghan as Associate Director of the new office. Tom previously worked in the London facade team before emigrating to Australia where he joined Grimshaw in Sydney. As both a qualified architect and engineer, Tom brings a holistic approach to facade design with the technical expertise required for the delivery of complex modern projects. We are currently providing the structural and facade design for the world’s tallest hybrid timber building, Atlassian HQ in Sydney, and look forward working on more iconic builds across Australia.
Tom Donald commented: ‘’From the very outset of my time at EOC the company ethos of truly integrating engineering and architecture has chimed with that of my own. It is a real pleasure to be working again with the world class team at EOC and to have the opportunity representing the company on some extraordinary projects. I am excited to expand on the work already done in Australia and to establish the EOC Sydney office.‘’
In India, our endeavours are led by Delhi office Director, Sushant Goel, who was based in Germany for seven years before moving back to his hometown. Sushant is a structural engineer and has worked on projects in the USA, Europe and Middle East relating to grid shells, membranes, cable facades, movable roofs and footbridges. In Delhi we are currently engineering a 1.2 km long cable supported footbridge at the Bharat Vandana Park, the roofing for a shopping mall, and a large private residential glass structure; a signature of Eckersley O’Callaghan’s expertise. We are committed to building on our exciting portfolio of projects across Asia and specifically throughout India.
Sushant Goel added: “I am excited about joining forces with Eckersley O’Callaghan in India. It was 2012 when I first heard about EOC and since then have been a keen follower of their trendsetting work across the world. I appreciate EOC’s commitment to providing innovative and sustainable engineering solutions and admire their openness to new ideas. I’m looking forward to expanding the Delhi office team, successfully delivering the ongoing projects and competing for new projects.”
We have also moved into new, larger office spaces in Paris, Los Angeles and Hong Kong as well as increasing global staff numbers. Our long-standing relationships with our collaborators have flourished despite the difficult year and many long-awaited projects reached completion, such as ground-breaking Sky Pool in London and iconic Apple Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. A remarkable success story in what has been a challenging year for all.
